
Special Operation Group (SOG) nabbed three mobile snatchers and seized 10 cell-phones from their possession on Saturday. The group also learnt that two of the arrested are college-going students.
SOG officials received a tip-off regarding three mobile-snatchers roaming near Polytechnic on their motorbike and were headed towards CN Vidyalaya.
The officials kept a watch near AMTS bus stop of Polytechnic College and nabbed Bhavesh Bhavsar, 19, a resident of Chandlodia; Dhaval Dalwadi, 21, a resident of Chandlodia and Minesh Patel, 35, a resident of Vatva.
They recovered 10 expensive mobile phones, including Nokia N8, Blackberry 8110 and Samsung GTS, worth Rs58,000 from their possession. In addition, they also seized their Yamaha bike worth Rs60,000. when they were caught near the college, they were on their way to sell the phones in second-hand market.
According to SOG, these youth were involved in mobile snatching in areas like University, Vastrapur, Anandnagar, Ghatlodia. They used to snatch cellphones when the person was busy talking on phone.
Just like chain-snatchers, they snatched the phone before fleeing on their bike. SOG also learned that Minesh Patel is an old timer, who was earlier caught for kidnapping and fake passport.
